Our 'Atua Artwork'



 We have been learning about the different atua that are represented by our school classroom names. These children and many others created some amazing depictions of each of the atua - they put a lot of thought and effort into creating these.

'Mad ball skills' with Cristal

Last Thursday we had our first 'Mad Ball Skills' session with Cristal. This was a great opportunity for us to practice our hand to eye coordination and to work on our skills of working with a partner. We are lucky to have three more sessions with Cristal - one every Thursday.

Maths - 'Rocket'

In maths we have been learning to compare numbers. Working out which set has more or less and which number is greater than or less than. This is a fun way for us to learn about ordering numbers.


The Lazy Duck role play

On Friday we role played our shared book for the week, The Lazy Duck. We were learning about verbs and took turns to act out the different animals and characters in the story. It was lots of fun! One bright cookie even noted that 'verb' rhymes with 'Herb'!

Making God's Eyes for Matariki

One of the activities on our Matariki Celebration Day was making God's Eyes. One of the translations for Matariki means the 'eyes of god' (mata ariki). The children in Tangaroa enjoyed making them so much that they have continued to work on them during the week. The level of concentration was impressive and they created some amazing looking God's Eyes!
